The Yolo SELPA Inclusion Project is a collaborative initiative to create and strengthen inclusive practices across local educational agencies (LEAs) in Yolo County. Following a presentation on inclusion at the May 2023 Superintendents’ Council meeting, the need for the next steps was identified, leading to the development of the first Inclusion Workshop, in January 2024, at the Yolo County Office of Education. In partnership with Kevin Schaefer from Supporting Inclusive Practices (SIP), we brought together inclusion teams from each LEA—including general and special education teachers, administrators, and paraeducators—to assess, develop, and enhance their inclusion efforts. The goal is to create actionable implementation plans to ensure students with disabilities experience meaningful and effective inclusion in their schools.
