The Yolo County Early Childhood Conference brings together early childhood educators and professionals for a dynamic day of learning, connection, and collaboration. Designed to support the diverse early learning workforce, the conference offers practical tools, evidence-based strategies, and dedicated learning experiences for center-based programs, Family Child Care providers, and Transitional Kindergarten educators.
 
Participants will:
  • Strengthen confidence in high-quality, developmentally appropriate practice across early learning settings
  • Gain practical tools to improve instruction, classroom management, and program sustainability
  • Build professional connections that support collaboration and shared learning
Who should attend? Everyone is invited to attend this free summit. The conference is designed for early childhood educators and practitioners working in center-based early learning programs serving infants, toddlers, and preschoolers; Family Child Care providers, including licensed home-based providers; Transitional Kindergarten educators and instructional staff; early childhood program leaders and administrators; and early learning coaches, trainers, and county or community partners who support early childhood programs and educators.

Stephen Propheter
 
 
 
Stephen Propheter is the Director of the Early Education Division (EED) at the California Department of Education. He was appointed by State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond in 2019. The EED provides leadership and support to California's early education community, providers, and contractors, ensuring high-quality early education programs are provided to children ages birth to 13 years. In this role, Propheter oversees investments for universal prekindergarten programs including California State Preschool and Transitional Kindergarten. 
 
Garth Lewis
 
 
 
 
Garth Lewis serves as the Yolo County Superintendent of Schools.  He was elected to his first term as the county's 19th superintendent in 2018 and was re-elected to his second term in 2022. He is the first African-American to be elected as county superintendent in Yolo County. Lewis has served as an educator in Yolo County for 19 years and has a 27-year career in K-12 education.
