Trustee Vacancy, Area 5
As announced on October 14, 2025, a vacancy was created on the Yolo County Board of Education, Trustee Area 5, by the resignation of Trustee Armando Salud-Ambriz following his appointment as Nevada County’s new clerk-recorder/registrar of voters.
During the meeting, the Board determined the trustee vacancy would be filled through Board appointment. The Board will be accepting applications through Monday, November 10, 2025 at 12:00 pm.
On Tuesday, November 18, 2025, the Board anticipates meeting in an open session public meeting starting at 3:30 p.m. to review applications and interview the candidates. Candidates should make themselves available for this meeting. The Board's appointment of the candidate to fill this position will take place at the November 18th Board of Education meeting after discussion of the candidates.
A person will be eligible to be provisionally appointed to the Board as long as they are 18 years of age or older, a citizen of California, a resident of Trustee Area 5, a registered voter, and free of any disqualification from holding civil office.
The Board is expected to review applications and interview candidates in an open session on November 18, 2025. The appointment will take effect upon the Board’s approval at that meeting. The appointed trustee will serve until December 2026, when the seat will be open for election for a new four-year term.
During the initial 10 days after the appointment, the Board must notify the community of the provisional appointment, including the name of the new Board member. The appointment will become final in 30 days unless a petition is filed with the Yolo County Superintendent of Schools requesting an election, in which case a special election will be called to fill the vacancy.
