Yolo Teacher Residency Program

Teacher Residency Program Flyer

DJUSD and Yolo County School Districts are excited to partner with Sacramento State University to open the Yolo Teacher Residency (YTR) Program in the Fall of 2019. This program is intended for college graduates, career changers, and community members.

YTR Program Design

Every Teacher Resident receives practical learning, hands-on experience, and ongoing support essential to any successful career in teaching. The program is designed to prepare special education teacher candidates through a 18-24 month apprenticeship model. Residents will work at a school site alongside a mentor teacher each day Monday through Thursday and participate in professional development each Friday. University course work will take place afterschool. Each resident will be assigned to a Yolo County School in one of our Districts, which include:

  • Davis Joint Unified School District
  • Esparto Unified School District
  • Washington Unified School District (West Sacramento)
  • Winters Unified School District
  • Woodland Joint Unified School District
  • Yolo County Office of Education

YTR Financial Benefits

An exciting grant opportunity will provide more than $16,000 in tuition reimbursement to each resident!   If you are a special education para-educator in a Yolo County School District you may be eligible to continue in your position while completing the program!
