About Us

Our Foster and Homeless Education Services program provides direct support, advocacy, and coordination to remove barriers to education for students experiencing foster care or housing instability.

We recognize that students facing these challenges often experience frequent school changes, disrupted learning, and emotional stress. That's why our team works closely with school districts, child welfare agencies, caregivers, and community partners to promote educational stability, access to critical resources, and academic success.

Services Offered

Educational case management: personalized support for academic progress and educational transitions
Enrollment assistance: immediate school enrollment, even without standard documentation
Transportation resources: help with school-of-origin transportation and inter-district coordination
Tutoring and academic support: access to tutoring, partial credits, and graduation support
Community referrals: linkages to food, housing, clothing, and mental health resources
Professional development: training for school staff, liaisons, and community stakeholders

Legal Rights

Under McKinney-Vento and AB 490, students are guaranteed:

Immediate enrollment: even without documentation or immunizations
School of origin: the right to stay in their school of origin, when in their best interest
Timely records transfer: school records must transfer within 2 to 10 days
Protection from discrimination: equal access to programs and activities
