Kifalme Youth Gathering
Join us for the Kifalme Black Youth Gathering! The one-day gathering with a focus on African American students will be held on April 29.
- Who: All 7th-12th grade students are welcome to attend
- Where: River City High School, 1 Raider Ln, West Sacramento, CA 95691
- When: April 29, 2023, 8:30 am - 1:30 pm
The event will include workshops, speakers, free breakfast and lunch, conference bags, performances, and giveaways for participants.
This year's theme is "Royalty". Kifalme means royal in Swahili, so come through for a day of learning, processing, healing, and celebrating your greatness at this free day-long event to build a better future together!
The event is sponsored by the Yolo County Office of Education, Washington Unified School District, and the Culture C.O-.O.P.

In addition to his work in education, he is the author of SOL Affirmations and he is a co-founder and lead facilitator for BE-Imaginative, a transformative safe space led by a collective of artists and activists dedicated to disrupting gun violence and healing Black and Brown communities through innovative multidimensional storytelling. Evidence of his work, of which has received national acclaim, can be found in the Emmy award-winning film Dear Beloved: Music & Storytelling with SOL Development & BE-IMAGINATIVE. Karega Bailey is also the co-host of the AMBIE-nominated podcast SOL Affirmations with Karega and Felicia on the Black Love Podcast Network.

Workshop: Rooted in Royalty (with Nakia Porter)
Nakia Victoria Porter is a community builder driven to uplift, motivate, and encourage others to be authentic in everything they do. As a result of her transformational talks, workshops, and creative written works, families begin to heal and liberate their minds, to be the change they seek in the world. As a mother, wife, sister, and daughter, Nakia knows firsthand the importance of positive support and encouragement, all wrapped in LOVE, to make it through the challenges of life. Nakia helps us to heal our hearts and raise the vibrations of love and compassion, in order to make space to overcome any challenge presented with confidence, knowing that… “I CAN DO IT!”.

Workshop: Regal Readiness: Afro-Futurism (with Armoni Easley)
Armoni Easley is a full-time Social impact Entrepreneur and Empowerment Facilitator. He is the Owner of Easley Done & Company LLC which provides equity and business consulting. He is also the Co-Founder and CEO of Project Optimism, Inc., a statewide non-profit organization dedicated to empowering hundreds of community members on a weekly basis with an optimistic mindset and properly equipping them with resources to become productive contributors to society. Armoni is the author of LifeWork which is a self-development experience that allows people to see their genius and think about what legacy really means to them.

Workshop: Magnifying Your Melanin (with M’ster Lewis)
M’ster Lewis Is a Sacramento-based Conscious Rapper, videographer, brand owner, gardener, and father. M’ster Lewis is known for his empowering, thought-provoking lyrics and tremendous work ethic.

Miss Marianna has been committed to "edutainment" for over 20 years. She serves as a culturally responsive and highly engaging approach to inspire personal, professional, and institutional transformation. Founder of Mariworks Productions, a multimedia arts and education organization, her mission is to boost self-awareness and restorative practices with an emphasis on mental health and emotional hygiene. Her keynotes, training, workshops, and coaching services known as "Refresh Sessions" continue to nurture self-education and agitate greatness in the home, school, neighborhood, and workplace.

He has written for some of the most popular network television shows, such as "The Unit" on CBS, as well as NBC's "Medium" and "Heist". His teleplay "The Simple Life of Noah Dearborn", written for CBS starring Sidney Poitier, received three Emmy nominations and won an NAACP Image Award. Sterling's extensive resume also includes screenplays written for Lions Gate, Disney, HBO, TriStar Pictures and Columbia Pictures.

The Royalty Passport to the World Engagement Booth is about connecting to the royal past of the African Diaspora. The youth will engage with our booth as they “travel” to their African throne. There will be props and a backdrop the youth will engage with, by Ms. Camil Blacksher and Elated Resonation.
