link between the California Department
of Education and local school districts

| BTSA and Teacher Intern Programs |
YCOE is a partner with the Yolo-Solano Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment (BTSA) program. Through BTSA, teachers who are new to the profession are inducted into teaching through a prescribed program of instruction and supervision to assure teacher quality and success.

Project IMPACT is the name of YCOE's alternative credentialing/internship program. In partnership with the San Joaquin County Office of Education, Project IMPACT is a systematic program of instruction and supervision provided to qualified individuals who wish to enter teaching through an internship program. Community (CREEC) |
The
CREEC Network provides educators with
access to high quality, standards-based
environmental education resources
to enhance the environmental literacy
of all students. Visit our website

information on field trips, professional
development opportunities, curricula
and other resources. Educators are
also invited to sign up to receive
a monthly electronic newsletter.

| Library Resource Display Center |
The Yolo County Learning Resources Display Center (LRDC) is an adoptions-only display center open to educators and community members to facilitate textbook review, selection, and purchasing decisions. The most recent K-8 instructional materials, adopted by the State Board of Education, are available for review by appointment only at the LRDC*. Currently on display are the English Language Arts and Math adoptions.

| Project Citizen |
We the People: Project Citizen is a curricular program for middle, secondary, and post-secondary students, youth organizations, and adult groups that engages students in identifying a public policy problem, proposing real alternatives and developing an action plan with a solution to the problem. Project Citizen connects English-Language Arts, History-Social Science and other core subject standards in a civic education context, emphasizing reading, expository writing, speaking and listening skills. The Yolo County Office of Education offers training, classroom materials and follow-up support to implement Project Citizen.

| Regional After School Technical Assistance System (RASTAS) |
YCOE offers training workshops, resources and technical assistance to districts and community-based organizations in Yolo County implementing the After School Education & Safety (ASES) program and 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC). The goal of RASTAS is to ensure that after school programs in Yolo County provide high-quality programs that include academics, enrichment, and recreation based on a youth development perspective.

Yolo County Office of Education provides districts and teachers with information and support to take advantage of state-sponsored recognition programs. Site visits are conducted at schools applying for Distinguished Schools recognition and Applications are reviewed for Teacher of the Year submissions.

| Region 3 Service Learning Network |
Creative Teaching Strategies for Engaging Students
YCOE serves as the Regional Lead for the Region 3 Service Learning Network. Service learning is a powerful teaching strategy for engaging students in active learning, developing higher-order critical thinking skills, and emphasizing the ethics of citizenship and active civic participation. Students participate in thoughtfully academic curriculum and active civic participation. Students participate in thoughtfully organized service that is integrated into and enhance the core academic curriculum and meets the needs of the local community. Service learning projects also provide structured time for students to reflect on the service experience.
YCOE offers professional development and networking opportunities for educators, youth leaders and community organizations in service learning. Through the regional network, service learning coaches are also available for follow-up training and technical assistance to districts, school sites, community organizations, and individual educators.

| Technical Assistance, Program Improvement, and Legal Compliance |
YCOE C&I staff conduct site visits on all Williams Settlement Act schools. Reports are submitted to district offices quarterly and to the Yolo County Board of Education as well as the Yolo County Board of Supervisors. See the link below for all compliance regulations and quarterly reports. Valenzuela Settlement and QEIA compliance monitoring are also provided to designated schools

YCOE produces a newsletter titled The OAK, Opportunities and Knowledge which is an electronic publication. The OAK lists current professional development, grant, and classroom resource opportunities.
