Technology Regional Education Consortium
(BITREC) |
| Yolo
County Office of Education participates
in BITREC for regional networking to
advance business and technology education
for educators. BITREC's goals
include: creating networking opportunities,
providing leadership and staff development,
supporting curriculum development and
disseminating; developing; and strengthening
business and technology pathways.
BITREC's membership includes faculty
who teach computer technology or business
courses in any secondary, ROP, community
college, or university within the greater
Sacramento region. Industry partners
serve as advisory members representing
business and industry. For additional

| Chamber of Commerce
School Business Partnership Subcommittees |
Chambers
of Commerce have subcommittees in which
education and business partnerships
are emphasized. The subcommittees
include chamber members, YCOE staff
members, teachers, work experience,
and WorkAbility coordinators, and site
administrators. This group connects
the chambers with education for supporting
students in job shadowing, career fairs,
conferences, the Work Ready Certificate,
the Yolo Youth Opportunity Council,
and with student organizations.
These meetings are usually held once
a month at a local chamber business
site.

Adult education opportunities in Beginning Computer Skills, Microsoft Office Applications, and Customer Service Skills are offered through our partnerships with DESS/One-Stop Services in Woodland, West Sacramento, and various other locations. Training |
This
training highlights a set of questions
and ranking system to determine the
success of an oral interview.
This training is specifically geared
toward preparing bu7sinesses/industry
for interviewing students that have
applied for the Work Ready Certificate.
It can be expanded to meet the specific
needs of a business or industry.
This training is one-hour in length
and contains sample interview questions
and ranking schemes. To schedule

| Parent Workshops
(Non-traditional Career Exploration) |
These
workshops cover career exploration,
identification of interests, work-values
and "career-fit," to determine
appropriate career pathways. An
emphasis on training through the Regional
Occupational Program (ROP) is emphasized.
Courses range throughout several pathways:
Agriculture, Arts, Media and Entertainment,
Business, Engineering Technology, Health
Careers, Home Economics, Industrial
Technology, and Public and Human Services.
This is a 2 to 4 hour workshop, which

County Regional Occupational (YROP) Advisory
Committee Support |

| Each
Yolo County Regional Occupational Program
(YROP) is required to have an Advisory
Committee and annual meeting for their
courses, programs of study. Membership
includes those participating in related
business, industries; post-secondary
partners; parents, teachers, and students. The YROP Advisory Committee support
includes linking members to appropriate
courses and/or advertising for new members;
in addition, to conducting training
on how to run appropriate Advisory Committees.

Yolo Regional Occupational Program (YROP)

programs which contribute to students'
