The Yolo Math and Science Partnership Program (YMSP)
seeks to increase the academic achievement of low performing students and English Language Learners in Math and Science by enhancing the content knowledge and teaching skills of classroom teachers. Summer institutes offer a choice of:
Follow-up sessions throughout the year will improve teachers' classroom management skills, expand teachers' knowledge of curricula aligned with the academic content standards, and enhance the integration of technology and assessment to guide classroom practice. The YMSP will serve 120 teachers over two years, affecting a total of up to 3,600 students from court, community, alternative education, continuation, and traditional schools with the lowest API scores. The strength of this project is focused on partners committed to making improvements within their own institutions, and gathering data that can inform and under gird strategy for the expansion and sustainability of the program.

Practical Stategies for Enhancing Science Curriculum with the Net Forefront Curriculum
- Highly recommended. This site includes a "Top Links for Wired Educatiors" which is organized by curricular area. Under science check out the links to lesson plan databases, top science sites, multimedia resources (web cameras, video, audio) and information on creating web sites.
Exploratorium: The Museum of Science, Art and Human Perception
- The site includes resources for science – guides to hands-on activities, digital imagery galleries, live webcasts - as well as a monthly “10 Cool Sites” listing other recommended websites. You can also sign up for an Educator Newsletter to receive quarterly updates on future events and new resources.
California Building a Presence for Science (CABAP)
- CABAP is part of the 26-state Building a Presence network coordinated and supported by the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA). At the site, you can register to be a “Point of Contact” for your school site. The teacher Point of Contact receives regular email updates containing science education information and resources.
- Grade 4 & 5 Standards Correlations: This online resource helps teachers find where your instructional materials cover each of the 4th and 5th grade standards (for all adopted texts and FOSS); teacher-oriented science content and links to other resources; and understand the intent of specific standards as described in the California Science Framework.
National Science Teachers Association’s SciGuides: The Science Teachers’ Guide to Internet Content, Resources and Much More
-
This online “science toolbox” allows teachers to forego an exhaustive and often unproductive internet search for instructional resources and instead use specially developed SciGuides tools to quickly and easily locate targeted science content information and teaching resources from NSTA-reviewed science websites. An introductory, one year subscription is only $5.95 ($4.95 for NSTA members!)
Eisenhower National Clearinghouse for Mathematics and Science Education (ENC)
-
The mission of the Eisenhower National Clearinghouse for Mathematics and Science Education (ENC) is to identify effective curriculum resources, create high-quality professional development materials, and disseminate useful information to improve K-12 mathematics and science teaching and learning.
Website includes “Digital Dozen” – each month featuring twelve recommended websites and “Lessons and Activities” – links to websites featuring science lessons and activities organized by subject area.
While access to these resources is currently free, ENC has lost its federal funding and teachers/schools will need to subscribe to the service after September 2005. Information on obtaining a subscription is available at the website.
